Customized TREATMENT
ASSESSMENT

1st:  When you enter the office you will be greeted and have initial paperwork to complete, if you have not downloaded it from our website and filled it out prior to arrival. (forms link).  This is Step 1.  Massage affects the whole body so we need to understand your body as a whole: what is has been through and goes through daily.

2nd:  Your personal therapist will say hello and bring you back to the treatment room where your paperwork will be reviewed, important questions about your health history, pain, job, and lifestyle will be gone over. The clearer we comprehend your situation the better the treatment can target specific areas and results will be achieved quicker and last longer.

DISCUSSION
After knowing more about your condition and how pain is affecting your life, your therapist is better equipped to explain how the bodywork session can “work”. You will learn the role chronic muscle tension plays and causes pain.  Lastly, your LMT will generally outline the session, the areas to be worked and clarify the objectives with you, all to better meet your goals and objectives.

ATTIRE

Now that you know how the session will look, you have a clearer idea of what to wear.  At Stress Waived, you are free to arrive in whatever you want. We provide 3 options.

I.  Fully clothed: Our techniques are effective even when done through clothing. We are happy to provide this option if it allows you to relax and be comfortable.  There are a couple of pro’s to choosing this option. No time is wasted changing clothes, and patients who may be uncomfortable undressing (for what ever reason), can still enjoy the benefits of treatment massage.  We can still be highly effective over clothing but many massage techniques/strokes are designed for direct skin contact.  Stretching during the session can be perceived as more comfortable.  If you do choose this option for your first session, it is advised to wear loose fitting pants or shorts.

B. Traditional:  In this option, the patient undresses to their comfort level (while the LMT is out of the room).  The first session it is recommended to keep the underwear on, then the patient will get on the massage table, cover themselves with the sheet. Each body part needing to be worked will be uncovered (draped), only during the time that part is being worked on, then covered back up.  Since this option provides the best access to the skin it is the most effective of the three options.  Here at Stress Waived, your comfort level/modesty will be respected at all times. If for ANY reason you are uncomfortable just say so and we will adjust things so you are.

II. Partially Clothed:  Many times with treatment massage, only a few areas on the body are worked in one session. If you have shoulder pain, we will not be working below your waist.  Only the top of the body needs to be unclothed. You will then cover yourself with the sheet and draping for the area being worked (as mentioned above-traditional), will be done accordingly.   After the session your LMT will guide you as to what to wear for each consecutive session depending on your comfortable level and area(s) being worked.  Remember sometimes where you feel the pain is not always where the cause/root of the pain initiates.

TREATMENT Session

After the attire method is selected, your therapist will leave the room while you get situated. Your LMT will knock before re-entering the treatment room making sure you are ready.  Once your therapist begins working, they will have a much clearer and comprehensive idea of your condition and its complexity/involvement. During treatment talking will occur. This is for pressure feedback you, explaining some of the working being performed, and more.

If your therapist notices anything that may intrude the effectiveness or alter the initial treatment objectives, they will most likely change the course during the session, with your approval of course. Ultimately, this phase is about finding exactly what needs correcting and adapting along with providing treatment. Length of the sessions will vary depending on condition and findings.

PROTOCOL
Once the session is complete, your LMT will leave the room, let you get dressed. Your LMT may have more questions, if not addressed during the treatment session.  Based off your level of results, effectiveness of treatment, and findings during your session, your LMT will explain the best course of action and why for you to get lasting results.
